video gamesCan you believe how far video games have come over the past twenty years? I have been doing a little bit of online research to track how many milestones that video games have uncovered during the past two decades, and it’s actually pretty crazy when you think about. Point and case: the original video games like Atari were actually 2-bit video games that featured exciting games like pong (where you hit a white square ball back and forth on a black and white screen like ping pong). Then Nintendo came out and offered an amazing breakthrough: four to eight bit technology that offered color and better block-shaped graphics. This was followed by the Sega Master system and the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo, all 8-16 bit systems that boasted enhanced graphics and longer levels. Following these came the 32-bit systems that were the first CD systems that ditched cartridges forever. Video games were finally able to save games and offer movies during game play. Which leads me to the present day. Systems like the Xbox and the PS3 and the Wii offer an unprecedented 128-bit technology where the graphics nearly look real to life. Can you imagine what video games will look like in five years? My guess is amazing!
