I have been playing and performing music for most of my life, ever since I was the tender age of four years old. I was reading a study online today that playing video games is actually beneficial for people who utilize a high amount of hand-eye coordination skills for their hobbies or professions. The study showed that video games actually have been proven to improve hand-eye coordination skills when played over a prolonged period of time. By prolonged I mean that those who have been playing video games consistently for a few years or more would realize greater benefits from improved motor skills than those who had not. Some professions that this immediate applies to included musicians (like me), carpenters, athletes and doctors. Similarly, I read another study about video games helping the elderly that suffer from diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia – where by playing certain video games they are actually able to improve their mental and motor skills. Interesting to learn than video games can actually offer both mental and physical benefits as well as being entertaining.
